The era of hybrid cars is upon us and some of us think that being hybrid and all is going to be slow and boring. But not this one, MUGEN EURO (UK -based subsidiary of Honda's long standing tuning partner MUGEN) is developing a high performance hybrid car based on the Honda CRZ Hybrid. MUGEN EURO ensures that this car will provide performances similar to Type R Hondas and best yet, better fuel economy.
Engine tune-up, suspension and brake upgrades are on to do list for the MUGEN EURO. As far as styling is concerned, the Honda CRZ will be equipped with the recently released Bodykit by MUGEN Japan. The performance figures on the engine is not released yet, but we are expecting around 250plus hp for this car.

MUGEN EURO to build high-performance Honda CR-Z
MUGEN Euro is developing a highly-tuned version of Honda's CR-Z, which will deliver "Type R-like" performance from the hybrid's petrol-electric powertrain - and may offer even better fuel economy.
This faster, more powerful car will make its world debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in July.
The CR-Z MUGEN will feature enhancements to both the 1.5-litre i-VTEC petrol engine and the Honda IMA system to boost power and torque, while bespoke brakes and suspension will be fitted to improve the chassis dynamics.
The major engine changes, and those made to exhaust and induction, may even result in greater mpg and lower CO2 emissions during some conditions. However, at this early development stage, final power, torque and fuel economy figures are not yet known.
Lightweight components, including a carbon fibre bonnet, will be employed to lower the overall weight, and the car will use MUGEN alloy wheels to reduce unsprung mass.
To improve aerodynamics and give the car an even more sporting look, MUGEN body parts will be added, including front and rear bumpers, and a spoiler.
"We wanted to extend the performance of the CR-Z," says Hiro Toyoda of MUGEN Euro. "It is already a fun car to drive, with an excellent chassis, but we thought that with more power and enhanced torque delivery it could be even more exciting. However, as with all MUGEN projects, we have stayed true to the Honda design and philosophy, and the electric motor is still a vital ingredient to boost performance and economy."
The CR-Z MUGEN is a joint project between Honda (UK) and MUGEN Euro - the Northampton-based subsidiary of Honda's long standing tuning partner MUGEN. In 2009, MUGEN Euro produced the Civic Type R MUGEN, an extreme, 240PS version of Honda popular hot hatch.
"This will be one quick hybrid," says Martin Moll, Head of Marketing for Honda (UK). "With more torque, more power and MUGEN's experience of working with Honda cars, we're expecting great things. It promises to show how hybrid cars can be even more exciting to drive."
At this stage, the CR-Z MUGEN is being developed purely as a one-off prototype, with no plans for a production version.

Ford's efficient SIX-SPEED POWERSHIFT cuts fuel consumption by 10 percent
EFFICIENT FORD SIX-SPEED POWERSHIFT ® AUTOMATIC CUTS FUEL USE BY 10 PERCENT
• New Ford PowerShift transmission blends the sporty feel of a manual transmission with the convenience of an automatic
• Ford PowerShift is one of the most advanced transmissions available for subcompact and compact cars like the new Ford Focus and Fiesta
• PowerShift weighs nearly 30 pounds less than the four-speed automatic transmission in the current 2011 Focus. Less weight helps improve fuel economy
DEARBORN, Mich., March 16, 2011 – With gasoline already more than $4 per gallon in some American cities, the new fuel-saving dual dry-clutch Ford PowerShift six-speed automatic is the right transmission at the right time.
Ford PowerShift – the company’s most sophisticated transmission ever – is part of a suite of advanced fuel-saving technologies available immediately on the Fiesta and the all-new Focus, enabling both cars to deliver as much as 40 mpg on the highway.
“The Ford PowerShift transmission is a technological leap over the competition,” said Piero Aversa, PowerShift engineering manager. “Now that it’s available in the new Focus as well as Fiesta, PowerShift gives us two great small cars that not only lead in fuel economy, but are more fun to drive as well.”
The all-new Focus, available in sedan and five-door bodystyles and featuring a 160-horsepower, direct-injected 2.0-liter engine, is arriving now at Ford dealers across the nation.
More than 95 percent of new-car buyers purchase their vehicles with automatic transmissions, even though many prefer the crisper acceleration, sportier performance and higher fuel economy traditionally offered by manual transmissions. Ford’s PowerShift dual dry-clutch transmission delivers the convenience of an automatic with the fuel efficiency and fun-to-drive sporty feel of a manual gearbox.
PowerShift is part of Ford’s commitment to lead or be among the leaders in fuel economy in every segment in which the company competes. Ford offers six-speed transmissions in nearly its entire North American lineup of Ford and Lincoln brand luxury vehicles. Ford is the only automaker to offer North American vehicle buyers 12 sales segment fuel economy leaders, with four vehicles EPA-certified at 40 mpg or higher.
The PowerShift unit available in Fiesta and Focus models is one of the most advanced transmissions available for subcompact and compact cars. Dual-clutch transmissions, like PowerShift, were born at the racetrack and saw their application for production road cars in ultra-expensive exotics, such as the $1.7 million Bugatti Veyron and $200,000 Ferrari California.
Among competitor vehicles in the Focus segment – Honda Civic, Toyota Corolla, Volkswagen Jetta, Hyundai Elantra, Chevrolet Cruze and Nissan Sentra – none offers drivers more horsepower, faster acceleration and higher fuel economy with an automatic transmission. Plus, no other car in the Fiesta segment offers a six-speed automatic of any type
Inside Ford PowerShift
Unlike regular hydraulically operated automatic transmissions, which use power-sapping torque converters, wet clutches and pumps, Ford’s new dual-clutch PowerShift automatic consists of two manual transmissions (in the same case) working in parallel. Each has its own independent clutch unit controlled by computers and fast-acting electromechanical actuators that shift the gears.
One clutch carries the odd gears, 1, 3 and 5, while the other carries the even gears, 2, 4 and 6, and reverse. PowerShift is an automatic because the gear changes are coordinated by a computer that directs the clutches to engage and disengage in a way that provides seamless delivery of torque to the wheels, even during gear changes.
As a result, the driver benefits from a 10 percent fuel economy gain along with the direct and sporty power-to-the-wheels feel and crisp acceleration normally associated with a manual gearbox, but in a transmission that shifts automatically.

In January and February, Audi sold 15,565 cars on the U.S. market, up 22.3 percent. In December, Audi successfully introduced the new A8 in the United States, and sold 811 units of this car in the first two months of this year – more than were sold of the previous version during all of 2010. Sales figures for the A6 rose even before introduction of the successor model from January to February by more than 17 percent to 1,188 units. Sales of the Q7 went up by around 79 percent to 1,498 units, primarily thanks to the new TDI clean diesel engine.
“Given the rising demand in the U.S. market for efficient diesel engines, we will introduce the Audi TDI clean diesel in both the A6 and the A8,” Schwarzenbauer said. “The proportion of our luxury class models already makes up 23 percent of our total volume in the United States – prior to the market launches last year it was around 13 percent.”
Audi increased sales in Europe during February by 17.5 percent to around 53,750 units, thanks to the A1 and the new A8 as well as growth in sales of the Audi TT sports car and the Audi Q7 SUV. Domestic demand also rose. Cumulatively, Audi has sold 32,290 units in Germany, or 18.3 percent more cars than during the same period last year, thanks to another strong rise of 20.8 percent in February.
On the Chinese market, the brand with the four rings continued its long-standing growth pattern: 41,122 deliveries to Chinese customers in the first two months of the year equals growth of 28.9 percent in comparison with the previous year; sales figures in February rose again by 25.3 percent to 18,926 units.
In Brunei the Audi brand continues to grow after a successful 2010 in record sales. The Audi Q5 SUV maintains the lead as the top selling Audi model in the Sultanate and lead premium SUV in its CC class segment as of the end of February. As the sole representative of the brand T.C.Y. Motors celebrates its Golden Anniversary this year and will soon introduce the new Audi TT S line Coupe with a new 2.0 TFSI engine which features a considerable increase in output and torque compared to the predecessor model (+70 Nm, +8kW).

The press release:
TCY Motors Sdn Bhd- the sole dealer & distributor of the Peugeot brand in Brunei Darussalam marks another new milestone with 50 Years Anniversary in 2011.
In-conjunction with T.C.Y.Motors 50 year anniversary, Peugeot 107, a chic 4-door hatchback was awarded 4 Euro NCAP safety stars due to its design, safety equipment and easily mastered road handling capabilities, the 107 ensures a peace of mind for its occupants. It features a 5 speed 2-tronic auto transmission and a fuel saving 998cc petrol engine which produces 68 horsepower and 93 Nm of torque.
The new Peugeot 107 has lost none of its sparkling appeal and continues to express ‘cool’ and ‘energetic’ finesse. Nevertheless, it has evolved stylistically with a new front-end style that reflects a sharper and fuller personality.
Simple and functional, the interior of the 107 is brimming with originality – the seats feature integral head restraints, a distinctive orange back-lit translucent panel for the air conditioning system which incorporates graphics with a modern feel and a single instrument panel from which a rev counter is placed above.
The Peugeot 107 may be small in size but with a little creativity, this funky little ride can carry more than it alludes.
In addition, it also offers a boot volume of 200 dm3 VDA to the height of the seat backs and 139 dm3 under the tilting rear parcel shelf (due to the parcel shelf’s low position).
The design of the rear parcel shelf has been improved to allow better access to the boot and for better use of the 477mm available between the sill and the rear seat backs.
The new Peugeot 107 excels in terms of running costs and eco-friendliness. With further reduced
fuel consumption and even closer attention paid to environmental-friendliness, the car highlights the economy of its engines and the frugality of its greenhouse gas emissions.
